So hi. My name’s Rosie and I’m a second year PhD student studying at the University of Leicester but I’m currently sat at 2804 meters up the side of Mauna Kea, Hawai’i.

How did I end up here?!

Even though I could easily recite the process of submitting the telescope proposal, how my supervisor secured funding and how long the journey took, I still don’t know how I ended up here! I’m in full imposters syndrome mode when I think about how they accepted my observing proposal, I’m in awe of the opportunity given to me by the funding body and my supervisor  and I’m still reeling from travelling half way around the world!

So I thought I’d  write a blog about what it’s like to be a PI on an observing program when you don’t feel old enough to be a PI!
